The lights from the parking lot in the background added a bit of sparkle to the scene.
Falls Twp. Park 11x14 oil
This is the finished painting using the sketch and what I remember from this morning.
A little side story from this morning, when I arrived in the parking lot a white duck came running over looking for food from me which I didn't have. I'm trying to hurry taking the paintbox and supplies out of my bag and all the while he is nipping at my hand and has his head buried in the bag looking for food.

You made a really beautiful landscape ...and in such a short time...love the hazy light you achieved .
Thanks Jane.
I like the way you made the front reeds taller and they are a beautiful color but my fav part are the lights reflecting in the water. You were there early enough before they went out.
Glad the he didn't hurt you.
Those ducks have strong beaks so he could have nibbled up a tube of paint as well as your finger!
The duck story had me chuckling, they are certainly cheeky creatures. Where I live, it's a fatal mistake to walk along the edge of Willen Lake with a bag in your hand. Within seconds you can be mugged by up to 30 swans and they can peck well above 1 metre in height!!! I really like both the sketch and the finished painting here Pat. It's interesting to see what changes you have made but, the important thing is, you have preserved that feel of early morning in both. Nice work and great post!!
Thanks Kev.
Wow what dedication! 5:30 am and ducks nipping at you? good depth and early morning light- very effective!
Thanks Mary.
well done Pat
