I took my acrylics with me so I didn't have to worry about wet paintings up there.
The one set up I made was a piece of masonite with holes drilled in the four sides which I tape a piece of canvas to and a bungee cord for wrapping around a tree or in this case a clothes line pole, this takes the place of a tripod The moon was minutes from disappearing over the mountain at dawn and I had to hurry to catch some of it.
We had the full moon at night so I wanted to sketch the shadow pattens thrown by the trees
The temps were in the low 30s at night so we had the fire place going and it gave me a chance to sketch it.
I started a painting of the cabin we stay in, I'm going to put it aside for a bit and look at it with fresh eyes before finishing it.
And last,a video of a friend we see each year, Whitey the skunk. This guy is so friendly, we have seen him the last four years and always wonder if he made it thru another winter up there.

I enjoyed seeing the moon and cabin paintings, Pat. And what a nice tradition you have, going fly fishing with your brother. You must be very brave to get that close to a skunk!
Thanks Janelle, we have a wonderful time up there. We started fishing together when he was 14 years old and we never stopped. The skunk "Whitey" has never acted aggressive to us in the four years we have seen him. We provide him with food when he comes around. He walks around our feet and under the tripods while we are photographing the night sky.
Pat what a great post! The fall colors are wonderful(beautiful catch!) and the moonscapes are my favorites. They glow and I can feel the cold. And that skunk!! hahaha- a little too friendly for me.
Sounds like a perfect trip Pat, I must confess to being just a tiny bit jealous!! Nice sketches, I particularily like the moonlight ones. I can never fail to admire the colours of brown trout (that's what we call those over here), much better than those insipid rainbows which fisheries insist on dumping into our lakes and rivers!!!
Awesome photos of you fishing with those glorious autumn colors in the background . You did some great paintings while there , the one with the moon is so suggestive .
Thanks Mary, the brown trout was a nice surprise.
Kev, they do the same here with the rainbows, this was a wild brown trout.
Thanks Jane, moonlight seems to be a favorite subject of mine lately, even though its hard to capture.
